The Surplus Property Authority of the City of Port Hueneme was established in 1993 to maintain, operate, improve, and dispose of federal surplus property and bring it into productive civilian reuse. The governing members of the Authority are the City Council with administration provided by City staff.
Business Park
The Authority’s first project was disposition of the 35-acre U.S. Naval Civil Engineering Laboratory situated on the City’s shoreline peninsula located between the deepwater harbor and ocean.
Following disposition, the Surplus Property Authority provided 23.5-aces to the Oxnard Harbor District for expansion of port operations with the Authority retaining use of nearly 6-shoreline acres for public access and 5 acres at the end of the peninsula for operation of the Hueneme Aquacultural Business Park. The Business Park is comprised of various water-oriented and port-related tenants on 10 lots that encompass the historic Point Hueneme Lighthouse and cottages.
