The Community Development Department is responsible for planning and zoning, economic development and business assistance, code compliance and parking enforcement. It is also responsible for affordable housing programs.

Staff works to ensure that new construction and additions to existing structures meet the policies and guidlelines that have been established for public safety, zoning and development.

Counter Services

City Hall Reception/Counter Services is an integral aspect of Community Development's Administration. Staff provides bilingual City Hall reception, counter services, and issuance of miscellaneous documents including bus passes, animal licenses, garage sale permits, vehicle releases, and beach/neighborhood parking passes. The Division serves as the ex-officio member to the Port Hueneme Chamber of Commerce and acts as primary liaison with the commercial Harbor District.
