Historically, the Army Corps of Engineers (COE) has dredged the Channel Islands Harbor and replenished sand on Hueneme Beach every two years. The last cycle was in 2014. The Corps is currently scheduled to commence dredging of the Harbor, and replenish sand at Hueneme Beach this fall (2016). Subject to Congressional approval, funding is available in this year’s COE budget. The contract is already awarded. The COE anticipates that shortly after the federal budget is approved, the contractor will be given a notice to proceed. Dredging should start by November of this year. (Note: The federal budget year starts in October.)
As further or updated information on the Corps dredging effort becomes available, updates will be posted on this web site.
