Housing Choice Voucher Rental Assistance Program

The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program is a federally funded program designed to assist eligible families in renting housing units in the private sector. Program participants pay a rent amount that is based upon a calculation involving household income, contract rent, utility allowances, bedroom size, and payment standards. This results in an approximate rent payment ranging from 30% to 40% of household income. The Housing Authority pays the balance of the rent directly to the property owner. Payments from the Housing Authority are timely and are routinely mailed on the last working day of the month prior to the month in which they are due.
