The City Council has elected to exercise the powers granted to redevelopment agencies in California pursuant to Health and Safety Code Section 33000 et Seq. The Port Hueneme Redevelopment Agency manages the City's three active redevelopment plans:

• 50-acre Hueneme (R-76) Project Area established in 1967
• 432-acre Central Community (A-38) Project Area established in 1977
• 34-acre Naval Civil Engineering Laboratory Project Area established in 1997.

The Redevelopment Agency provides an annually updated list of housing units currently benefiting from assistance provided by the Redevelopment Agency.
