The City of Port Hueneme is offers a highly successful, nationally recognized program that helps property owners, managers, and residents of multi-housing rental property maintain a safer living environment. This program uses a unique three-phase approach:

Phase I consists of an 8-hour training seminar for property owners and managers, with topics such as tenant screening and recognizing illegal activity, presented by Code Compliance, Police, Fair Housing, and Fire Prevention personnel.

Phase II consists of day- and night-time surveys of the property by Code Compliance staff, evaluating that the property meets the minimum security requirements for resident safety.

Phase III is a "Safety Social" event for tenants, where they can learn about crime prevention and personal safety.

Upon certification, property management will be issued CFMH program signs for displaying on the property, and granted the use of the widely recognized CFMH logo in advertising for the property.
