Happy Thanksgiving! A Special Note about Turkey Frying Oil

As you prepare your Thanksgiving feast next week, please remember not to "FOG" your drain – you'll save your pipes and lateral lines! When "FOG" - Fats, Oils, or Grease - gets poured down kitchen drains, it accumulates inside sewer system pipes. As FOG builds up, it restricts the flow in the pipes and can cause untreated sewage to back up into homes, resulting in high costs for clean-up and restoration.

Port Hueneme residents can dispose of used oil free of charge at Clean Harbors in Camarillo. Click on the turkey picture to find Clean Harbors' phone number and get more information on FOG.

No Street Sweeping or Trash Pickup on Thanksgiving

Out-of-the area guests coming to your house for Thanksgiving dinner and football? Don't worry about them parking on the street if your regular sweeping day is Thursday - street sweeping is cancelled on Thanksgiving, so you can focus on getting your yams and pies just right. Thursday's trash pick-up will be delayed to Friday - please have your carts curbside by 7 AM.

Residents with Friday sweeping days may want to go take advantage of the Black Friday deals at our local Port Hueneme shopping centers, as street sweeping will resume on Friday. Please have your car OFF the street during the posted hours!
